The Sikh community in Queens gathered in Richmond Hill for a lively annual parade on Saturday, to honor the birthday of the religion's founder.
Participants marched in colorful dress and enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather.
"I just like the whole community getting together and unifying under one cause," said one participant.
"I think it's really great for the youth, you know? It's really interesting to learn about the religion," said an onlooker. "Some of us are moving away from it, and it just brings us closer and closer to it. And I think it's a great festival, it's just beautiful."
Sikhism was founded in India over 500 years ago.
