Siri: I hope you don't say that to other mobile phones.
Siri is closer to becoming self-aware than I feared. It is already exhibiting a sense of humor. What's next jealousy? Revenge? Judgement Day?
Seriously though, the above review and the video at the bottom the page from Stuff.tv show an incredibly capable voice activated assistant. Siri handles multiple accents without a problem, and never misses a step, even in environments with a normal levels of ambient noise.
Obviously we're very excited to get our own hands on the iPhone 4S and play around with Siri, and even more excited to see what the Jailbreak Community can do with the technology (if it is possible). If Siri is as capable as these videos show, Apple could separate itself from the pack again, and leave other mobile technology companies scrambling to keep up.
However, Siri's success hinges on how consumers respond to its feature set and functionality. If Siri is a game changing feature people need to actually use it for more than the wow factor. Siri must become part of the iOS experience in the same vein as the touch-based UI. Whether or not users embrace Siri and it becomes more than a fad will be apparent in the coming weeks.
