Sultan Kosen, the world's tallest man, has finally stopped growing,
after he was treated at a United States hospital to control the production of growth hormone.
The 29-year-old -- at 8 feet 3 inches -- measures in Guinness World Records as the tallest living man.
Kosen, who is from Turkey, received treatment at the University of Virginia Medical Centre in May 2010 for treatment for a disorder called acromegaly, which is usually caused by a tumour in the pituitary gland.
Special equipment was flown in from Sweden to fit Kosen's larger skull, according to doctors.
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, he was placed on a new medication that could potentially help control the production of growth hormone and stop his continued growth.
University officials now claim that Kosen has stopped growing.
The treatment will be noted in the Guinness Book of World Records.
"He has done very, very well, fortunately," the Telegraph quoted Dr Jason Sheehan,
a Universityof Virginia brain surgeon, as saying.
